WHAT MAKES A YOBO?
The ‘YOBOS show week’ is preceded by three workshops which allows us to make a start on the considerable amount of work that is needed to prepare the cast for the show. It is also a wonderful opportunity for the cast and crew to bond. Due to the fact that everybody at YOBOS has an interest in musical theatre, the course is a fantastic opportunity to make new friends!
The week of the show is a fantastic learning opportunity for members, who work with many different people covering all the disciplines related to the show allowing members to learn skills which will be useful if they wish to continue in the dramatic arts.
Banbury Operatic Society (BOS) and Youth of Banbury Operatic Society (YOBOS) is a Registered Charity (Registration No. 1193199).
Renowned for our ability to put on a fully staged musical in just one week during the summer, YOBOS is a non-profit making group created in 2003, as an exciting musical theatre project giving 11 to 19 year olds in the Banbury and North Oxfordshire area a taste of what it takes to be in, and create, a musical production. YOBOS high quality productions have resulted in them gaining national recognition, with the group winning awards as well as being asked to perform in the West End as part of a showcase of the country’s talented young performers on numerous occasions. Previous YOBOS members have gone on to top Drama Schools, performed professional in the West End and appeared on Television and Film.
The YOBOS performances are fully costumed, with professional quality lighting and sound, along with a live orchestra. Our previous productions include 'Everybody's Talking About Jamie', 'Kipps', 'In the Heights', '42nd Street', 'Rock of Ages', 'The Wedding Singer', 'Legally Blonde', 'Grease,' '13 the Musical,' ‘Seussical the Musical,’ ‘Rent,’ ‘Hairspray,’ ‘Little Shop of Horrors,’ ‘Crazy for You,’ ‘Hot Mikado,’ ‘Fame,’ ‘Barnum,’ ‘Anything Goes,’ ‘Honk!,’ and ‘Bugsy Malone.’ All these productions were met with rave reviews, not only from audience members, but also from our course participants!
