ABOUT
YOBOS is Banbury’s award-winning youth theatre group, bringing together young people aged 11 to 19 every summer to stage spectacular productions with professional support and guidance. After the overwhelming success of Les Misérables: School Edition in 2025, we are thrilled to announce that our 2026 production will be Hadestown Teen Edition!

This reimagining of the Tony Award-winning Broadway and West End hit will be open to anyone aged 11 to 19. Whether you’ve been with YOBOS before or are brand new, we’d love for you to join us. Auditions and workshops begin with a Taster Day in March 2026 – the perfect chance to meet the team, try out some of the material, and see what YOBOS is all about.

STORY
Hadestown takes audiences on a journey to the underworld, weaving together two mythic tales: that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone. Guided by Hermes, the storyteller, we see a world where love is tested against fear, hope battles despair, and music has the power to change fate. Full of incredible songs, heart, and energy, Hadestown is a modern musical like no other.

CHARACTERS
​
ORPHEUS – Male - Lyre-playing poet, gifted and naïve (Tenor with strong falsetto, range: D3-C5 (opt. Eb5))
EURYDICE – Female - A runaway, tough and vulnerable (Mezzo-Soprano, range: F#3-D5)
HADES – Male - Compulsive industrialist, boss-king of Hadestown (Bass, range: F2-C#4)
PERSEPHONE – Female - Queen of nature and the seasons, a lush (Mezzo-Soprano/Alto, range: F3-C5)
HERMES – Any - Charismatic guide and storyteller, mentor to Orpheus (Tenor/Bass, range: C3-B4)
FATES –Any - Three vicious and delicious, voices in the head (Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto, range E3-D5 (Fate 1 up to Eb5))
WORKERS – Any - Spirits of labor and community, a physical and choral presence (SATB)

YOBOS WEEK
YOBOS week is what all the workshops have been leading up to! One week to put on a fully staged, fully costumed and fully orchestrated musical. Throughout the week, the cast will learn the direction, choreography and music whilst helping our backstage members with building the set, preparing props and anything else that goes into making a musical!

WYKHAM THEATRE
YOBOS week takes place at Wykham Theatre at Wykham Park Academy. With over 200 seats, a fully operational lighting rig and a large stage, Wykham Theatre has been YOBOS home since the groups creation!

YOBOS WEEK BREAKDOWN
THE 2026 'HADESTOWN: TEEN EDITION' YOBOS WEEK RUNS FROM 7TH AUGUST 2025 - 17TH AUGUST 2025

Friday 7th Aug - 10am till 6.00pm
​Saturday 8th Aug - 10am till 6.00pm
Sunday 9th Aug - 10am till 6.00pm
Monday 10th Aug - 10am till 6.00pm (crew day off)
Tuesday 11th Aug - 10am till 6.00pm (cast day off)
Wednesday 12th Aug - 10am till 6.00pm
Thursday 13th Aug - 10am till 10.30pm
At 4.30pm all YOBOS members will receive fish and chips for tea. At 5.30pm, the cast will get into costume and makeup and begin a dress rehearsal at 7.00pm
Friday 14th Aug - 10am till 10.30pm
Throughout the day, we will prepare for the show. At 6pm, the cast will get into costume and makeup and begin the show at 7.30pm
Saturday 15th Aug - 12pm till 10.30pm
YOBOS members will arrive midday and get into costume and makeup. They will then perform their matinee show at 2.30pm. After the show, they will have a break and then prepare for their final show at 7.30pm
Sunday 16th Aug - 12.00pm till 6.00pm
YOBOS members will clear the hall and takedown all set. Once this is done, the production team will thank those who were involved and give out gifts. They will then announce next year's show! After this, we will have a party buffet to celebrate!
BACKSTAGE OPPORTUNITIES
YOBOS isn't just for performers! We have a whole host of young talent behind the scenes as well. YOBOS is proud to be a group for young people, by young people.
